What Am I Missing?

Posted on February 9th, 2010

Is God under any obligation to heal everyone every time? Is it always in God’s will to heal the sick?

The Word of God isn’t a “hit and miss” area when it comes to healing.

What is being taught in an overwhelming majority of churches today is a false doctrine (that God ALWAYS heals and all we have to do is “speak it”). The (erroneous) presumption is that we have the creative power of God in our words or that we can “claim healing” (as if it is a 100% promise to us that we’ll always be healed). There is absolutely no biblical basis for those beliefs!

Let me expound by asking a few questions:

What are the gifts of healing as defined by scripture?  Does a slow, progressive healing count?  In which verse do you find such teaching?  Many will cite the blind man who responded “I see men as trees walking”, but the true question there is twofold:  1.  Did Jesus have healing power?  He absolutely DID have healing power!  2.  Did he allow the blind man to be healed over time?  Absolutely NOT.  Jesus immediately prayed for him again!

Back to the questions:

Do the gifts of healing exist today? What are they for? To whom are they given? Does everyone possess the gifts of healing?  Today’s church would tell you that healing is your “right” and all we have to do is “speak it into existence” or “claim it”.  Why then does Paul ask the question:  “Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?” 1 Corinthians 12:30.  Is the answer to those questions posed by Paul “Yes”?

The answer to those questions is a resounding NO — All do not have gifts of healing….

Let me explain what I have personally witnessed a multitude of times over the years. We have an enormous amount of ungodly jealousy in the church today. It is pure 100% sensual, devilish, jealousy! God pours out, let’s say, the gifts of healing, in an INDIVIDUAL’S life. Today’s culture just can’t stand the thought of someone being “better” than them (their perception) or “topping” their accomplishments!  What then would you expect to see from this type of generational, worldly thinking?  You would see exactly what we are seeing (and have for several years).   “Teachers” began to teach things such as “everyone has the gifts”, “everyone is anointed”, “everyone can do the same things” and it is explained and reasoned away by saying “God is no respector of persons”.   While the statements above are ’somewhat’ true in their proper context, these questions are perversions of scripture!

It is true that God is no respector of persons but this is of course, a perversion of scripture!   Why would I dare say such a thing?  Let’s assume for a moment that you believe God is  not a respector of persons when it comes to anything at all (as is being taught today).  Why then did Solomon have enormous wealth while many Christians today suffer in poverty?  Why do Christian people die of cancer?  Why do they get killed in accidents?  Why was Abraham the father of many nations but you are not?  Why was Paul an Apostle who worked great miracles, but you are not?  If God is no respector of persons, why are some Christians called into Pastoral Ministry, others are Evangelists and still others have no such office at all? What about all the people killed in the attack on our country on 9/11/2001?  Do you think there were any Christian people killed?  How about the many today in 3rd world countries who are suffering persecution, sickness, famine, natural disasters?   Why aren’t you living in the abundant life spoken of in Malachai?   You know the scripture concerning tithes (as is taught today anyway)…. you are to receive a blessing that ‘There won’t be room enough to contain it!”.   Are you living THAT life?  When is the last time you didn’t have room to store more money, more grain, more clothes, more health, even more joy?  Of course, Malachai isn’t talking about spiritual blessings…the scripture is very clear!  The passages in Malachai 3 is speaking of physical wealth!  Read it for yourself!

Are we to believe that Christians will never suffer anything, will never be the victim of a robbery, an accident, a murder?  It is lunacy to believe that these things do not happen to godly, Christian people!    Is God then a respector of persons toward you?   Of course not!  What then could explain such things?    Many try to explain these things as though they only happen to backslidden people, or ungodly people.  Nothing can be further from the truth as a brief reading of the entire New Testament will show you.  Christians can and DO suffer illness, poverty, disaster, and other calamaties, just as does the rest of the world.

What does it mean then, that God is no respector of persons.  Properly taken in context, the passage isn’t speaking about protection at all.  It is speaking of the free salvation given to every man regardless of race, skin color or how atrocious their sin may have been!  God’s grace and providence is HIS.  He does differentiate between men and between the sexes (ok  so get mad, but it is true….God is no respector when it comes to salvation, however he HAS defined “roles” for the sexes and for those whom he chooses to bestow gifts and those whom he calls into ministry).

NOT everyone is anointed in the same way. NOT everyone has the same gifts. In fact, (and this makes people mad) NOT everyone has any gift at all (gifts as outlined in 1 Corinthians 12). Some have “helps” and “governments” in the church, but not “working of miracles” or “divers kinds of tongues”.

What then is the issue?  Honestly?   It boils down to pure jealousy!  Paul tried to emphasize over and over that we are ALL the body of Christ and NOT everyone is the head, NOT everyone is the foot, NOT everyone is the arm. Today, though, people are completely out of their places and we have feet wanting to be heads, heads wanting to be everything, and arms wanting to be eyes.

The message is overwhelmingly clear! God gave gifts as HE sees fit! The gifts of ministry are also included in gifts, yet not every Pastor is a good Teacher. Not every Teacher is an Apostle, not every Prophet is an Evangelist, etc. They have their place and their specific God given operation!

Enough said..let me continue with healing.

———

There isn’t a single scripture that states God will ALWAYS heal.  Not one!  There isn’t a scripture that says God even “owes” us anything!  God saved us by his mercy, not because he was indebted to us but because we were helpless and could not save ourselves!  It was the love of God that brought true salvation!

I’ve heard preachers say we should “just look at God and remind Him of His Word”. I trust you don’t belive that such a rebellious statement  such as this is acceptable!   To “demand” that God perform in a particular way is to attempt to practice witchcraft and sorcery!   Witchcraft says if I do this in a particular way, or speak words in a certain manner, or “confess” something the right way (or often enough) then God (or some subservient spirit) MUST act in a certain way!

——-

Does God heal because we demand it or because we “confess it” (or even because we refuse to admit we’re sick)?

To ask the question a different way, why is it that even the “name it and claim it” teachers don’t see people healed all the time?

They say it’s a simple matter of “claiming the promises of God”, right?

Didn’t God promise in James 5 that the elders would lay hands on the sick and they would recover? Why then, aren’t these “elders” seeing it happen? Biblically speaking, you can’t place the blame for lack of faith upon the person being prayed for!  That’s not what the scripture says!  The faith of the person being prayed for is in obeying the scriptures:  by their  “Calling for the Elders of the church”.

Study it out. It is by the prayer of faith spoken by the ELDERS that they are to be “raised up”.   If they’re not “raised up”, doesn’t that signify the “elders” have a problem?

The claim that someone doesn’t have enough faith to be healed is often stated by today’s faith teachers.    It becomes then, a matter of circular reasoning for these so called “name it and claim it” preachers today. The truth lies in the overwhelming message of the Bible. God does WHAT He will, WHEN He will and to Whom He will!

Do you know why healing doesn’t work everytime (as it has been taught today)? 2 scriptures come readily to mind:

James 4:3 “Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.”  (A favorite of the faith teachers but used maliciously and perversely).

1 John 5:14-15 “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.”

According to the scripture, when does he “hear” us? When we ask “according to his will”!

———-

There are other questions you should ponder:

If it is God’s will to ALWAYS heal us, who would ever die?

When Jesus was at the pool of Bethesda, how many people were healed?  How may were around the pool?

At the gates of the temple when Peter walked by, how long had that man been there?  (The bible says daily ….)  Wasn’t Jesus also at the same place?  Why didn’t he heal this man?

Why did Paul have an infirmity?  He had gifts of healing and working of miracles yet he was never healed.  Yes, you can quote scripture to say it was “given to him” by God, however, why do you automatically assume (wrongly by the way) that when you see a sick Christian today, that they have somehow sinned or done something wrong?

What about the people in Jesus’ home country?  The bible said he could do NO might works there.  Why?  So how many times would he have to “confess” something before he could do mighty works in his own home country?  Hmmm..

———–

Friend, my intent is not to discourage you or to destroy your faith.  Those of you who know me already know the absolutely unexplained, well documented miracles of healing that God has performed in my life, in my wife and in my youngest son.    I absolutely believe in healing.  I believe in miracles.  I DON’T believe in today’s false teaching about them!

Welcome to Exposing False Christianity

Posted on July 4th, 2009

Welcome to The Elijah Project’s newest site:  Exposing False Christianity.

I’m quite sure there will be many angry people with angry letters and emails that originate from the blogs on ElijahProject.Org.  As always, the goal of The Elijah Project is and always has been singular in purpose and intent.  That goal?   Sound Biblical Teaching.

There is something inherently and desparately wrong with today’s flavor of Christianity.  From false teachers to false teaching to false prophets and even to the very core beliefs that ’should’ be based strictly upon morality, godliness, holiness and solid biblical scripture, it is apparent that something is wrong with not only the thinking, but the theology of today.  The church as a whole has embraced false teaching hook, line and sinker and is falling head over heels in love with a humanistic gospel that feeds the void of a generation who is emotionally and culturally separated from morality.

From the (false) teachings that abound on most Christian broadcast stations today to the most basic of Children’s Sunday School teachers, the church today (as a whole) bears no resemblance to the patterns of godly, upstanding moral character outlined in the bible.  Instead, the teaching, the songs, the thinking of today’s modern churches often resembles that of the purest form of Satanism and the underlying theme of many sermons promotes self-pleasure, self-help, self-centeredness, self-indulgence and a gospel that points anywhere except to the cross of Calvary.  This is manifest in the songs, it is manifest in the presentation of the gospel and it is manifest in the prayers.

There is an infection in the church.  That infection is indeed “Another Gospel” that has been preached, believed and received by the general church masses today.

I will be addressing not only the false teaching, but also the false thinking, unbibilical views, songs, statements, beliefs, etc that are held by many today.  If this site offends you, you will find no apology here but rather an admonition to go back to YOUR bible to see what the Word of God really has to say.  This site is not necessarily directed at any one person, but I will not hesitate to include names and examples of those who promulgate, promote, teach, preach and otherwise contradict the clear direction of scripture or the morality and idealogy contained therein.

I have no clear picture of what how this particular site may be structured in the future, but for now, I’ll keep it as a blog.   If you believe you really need to comment, I invite you to the forums located at http://www.elijahproject.net/forum.  Sign up for an account and post your thoughts there.

I’ll say it again:  I have no specific intention to harm or destroy anyone and I have no intention of destroying your faith.  I hope this blog site will challenge you and open your eyes to the truth of scripture as contained within the pages of the Holy Bible.  That’s the extent of my intention.

1 Timothy 4:1-4  “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:…”

May the Lord Jesus Christ richly bless and keep you until the day of his glorious appearing.

Yours in Christ,

The Elijah Project
